🧠 Your Brain May Be Listening to What You Eat
In a randomized clinical trial, 42 healthy adults who consumed about 35 grams of tomato paste daily for 3 monthsshowed improvements in attention, processing speed, and associative memory.
Brain scans also showed changes in how some brain networks communicated. Researchers suggest these changes may reflect altered brain efficiency, although the imaging results are still preliminary.
The likely star is lycopene, a powerful compound found in tomatoes. BDNF, a protein linked to brain health, also showed a possible increase.
The study is small, so this does not prove that tomato paste will boost everyone’s brain. But the findings are intriguing—and they give scientists another reason to look closely at what we put on our plates.
