I am not impressed with Seyi Makinde on this one. Talk is cheap, especially in politics. Politicians can change their positions at any given time to suit the political climate.
When President Tinubu introduced and implemented major economic changes, including the removal of fuel subsidy and the subsequent changes in the petroleum pricing framework, where was Makinde? Did he call a press briefing to clearly state his position and challenge the policy at that time?
Now that 2027 is approaching and he is positioning himself for the presidency, why are we hearing these arguments more loudly?
Nigerians deserve consistency and principled leadership not positions that become convenient when elections are around the corner. If a policy is wrong, say so when it happens, not only when it becomes politically advantageous to say so.
Politics should be about principles, not convenience.
