There’. a video that’s circulating online about Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, the APC governorship candidate for Oyo State. Students from The Polytechnic, Ibadan (Banking and Finance Students’ Association) visited him to interview him about his plans for young people and unemployment and to seek support for their programme.

In the clip, one of the students ends up sitting on Alli’s lap. The young man looks visibly tense (clenched fist while reading questions from his phone). Alli is seen rubbing/stroking the student’s thigh. When the student asks what he would do about unemployment if he becomes governor, Alli replies, while still touching him: “Well, you’re going to use what you have to get what you want, to leverage on whatever we have in the state.”

Na wao! A student asking a serious question about jobs and getting that response plus physical contact from a much older, more powerful politician. What are APC politicians turning Nigeria into?

Whether you see it as creepy opportunism, poor judgment, or something more, the video itself is what it is. The student was there representing his association, not looking for that kind of “advice.”
