As expected, the Senator's team has stated that limited seating at the interview venue prompted Senator Alli to ask one student to sit on his lap, describing the gesture as spontaneous and fatherly. What does this even mean? I have never seen this type of thing before in an official setting.

This is a full grown man in his twenties, I mean the student. Fully grown, not small. This is not a child sitting on the lap of an older person as we know. This is a man in his 60s holding a man in his 20s on his lap, a man who is not related to him at all. And this is a show of fatherly love? What if this student had injured the Senator?
