NDDC Visits Ukwuani as Ajede Leads Inspection of Failed Federal Road Sections

Earlier today, the Executive Chairman of Ukwuani Local Government Area, Hon. Barr. C. S. Possible Ajede, PhD, welcomed the Assistant Director, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Warri Zonal Office, Engr. Charlson Umunade, to Ukwuani LGA.

Shortly after their arrival, the Council Chairman led the NDDC team on an inspection tour of the failed sections of the Federal Road traversing the Local Government Area. The inspection covered the stretch from Eziopkor Junction in Obiaruku, through Umutu, to the boundary with Ika South Local Government Area.

The visit by the NDDC delegation became necessary following the intervention of the Ukwuani Council Chairman on the deplorable sections of the Federal Road stretching from Express Kitchen through the various affected communities to the Ika South boundary.

The Council Chairman had earlier commenced remedial reconstruction works on some of the failed portions of the road as part of his administration’s commitment to improving road infrastructure and easing movement for residents and road users across Ukwuani.

The intervention, which has attracted considerable attention, has also drawn the interest of the Federal Government, with the ongoing work reportedly attracting the attention of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The visit therefore provided an opportunity for the NDDC team to assess the condition of the road firsthand and explore possible areas of intervention and collaboration towards finding a lasting solution to the road’s deteriorating condition.

Hon. Ajede reiterated his administration’s commitment to partnering with relevant government agencies and stakeholders to improve infrastructure and enhance the wellbeing of the people of Ukwuani.
