YES, IT IS THE YEAR 2083 IN NEPAL!

When Izuchukwu ( @lekeemonetization ) shared the post in the inset yesterday, I chimed in on a very important topic: why certain countries choose alternative calendars over the standard Gregorian calendar. Here was my contribution:

"That is because Ethiopia uses the Coptic calendar. It's 7-8 years behind. The primary reason for the gap is a disagreement over when Christ was born. The Gregorian calendar follows the calculation by a 6th-century monk named Dionysius Exiguus, while the Ethiopian calendar follows the calculation of Annianus of Alexandria, an ancient monk who placed the annunciation (the conception of Jesus) exactly 7-8 years later than Dionysius did.

Do you know that in Nepal the current year is 2083? The country uses a historical solar calendar based on ancient Hindu tradition. The calendar is structured about 56 to 57 years ahead of the Gregorian calendar.

Nigeria uses the Gregorian calendar, like most countries in the world.
