Look at this picture for a moment.

Imagine this is your daughter.

She comes home from school looking sad, withdrawn and unusually quiet.

You ask, “What happened?”

She says, “Nothing, Mummy.”

You ask again.

Eventually, she tells you that some of her classmates laughed at her, mocked her and made her feel small.

Now, as a parent, what would your first response be?

Would you:

A. Immediately call the school and demand an explanation?

B. Tell your child to ignore them and move on?

C. Ask her what happened, listen carefully and help her process it?

D. Ask, “What did you do to make them treat you that way?”

Or perhaps your response would be something completely different?
