THIS IS A SERIOUS QUESTION FOR NIGERIANS 🇳🇬

President Bola Tinubu has reportedly gone to a U.S. court seeking to prevent the release of FBI and DEA records connected to past investigations involving allegations of drug trafficking. His lawyers are arguing that releasing the records could infringe on his privacy rights.

To be clear, this does not mean that President Tinubu has been convicted of drug trafficking. The matter is about whether certain historical U.S. government records should be made public.

However, Nigerians have every right to ask questions: What exactly is contained in these records, and why is there an attempt to prevent their release?

When someone occupies the highest office in the country, transparency should not be seen as an attack. Public officials should be willing to face legitimate scrutiny, especially when questions concern matters that could affect public confidence.

This is not about condemning anyone without evidence. It is about transparency, accountability and the right of Nigerians to seek the truth.

If the records contain nothing damaging, let the appropriate legal process determine what can be released. The truth should never be afraid of scrutiny. 🇳🇬⚖️
