Christopher Amaeme is that friend who sticks closer than a brother.
Perhaps you might have read about how I met him before.
But we didn't just meet - our shared values and dedication to excellence brought us together.
For the sake of those who haven't read about Christopher, grab some popcorn and read on! 😁
We met in a tutorial center for the first time during our first year.
Christopher later recounted how he had quietly observed me in that tutorial center, sitting in the front row and eloquently asking and answering questions.
Over time, I realized I have a knack for standing out in a crowd. The tutorial center was so packed that you might not even spot someone you knew until everyone was leaving, but somehow he noticed me.
Afterward, he approached me, and we became the best of pals ever since.
Frequently, we walked together, sat together, read together, ate together, and visited the library together - you name any activity friends do together, we did it.
Our distinct differences didn't leave our friendship without arguments that looked like fights, disagreements, and misunderstandings. In fact, any friendship without arguments isn't real friendship at all!
However, on such occasions, we always made sure our misunderstandings never saw the light of the next day.
Seeing how he patiently analyzed complex problems and proffered solutions, I realized he was quite an outstanding student himself and didn't just approach me to take advantage of what I had to offer. He truly believed that two are better than one.
Then, I realized I needed him even more than he needed me. On countless occasions, I found myself consulting him for solutions to assignments involving logic, statistics, and project work.
He was astute, and his reasoning was always out of the box - which is why he earned a special pen name from me: Programmer.
Honestly, sometimes I felt guilty, thinking I was benefiting more from the friendship than he was. But when I shared this with him, he proved me wrong, assuring me that it was entirely mutual.
You could say fate honored our shared values not - having someone from a different background who believes in integrity, hard work, and good success.
I must admit that my days in higher institution wouldn't have been as interesting, productive, or successful without Christopher.
Who you associate with in higher institution can determine your outcome. Pay attention to your friendships.
