Nigeria’s business environment is challenging, but for the strategic entrepreneur and investor, challenges often reveal where the next opportunity is. We are seeing an economy being reshaped by inflation, exchange-rate dynamics, energy costs, digital transformation and changing consumer behaviour. At the same time, sectors such as agriculture, ICT, financial services, construction, real estate, logistics, domestic energy and manufacturing continue to create room for value creation. The real question is no longer “Is Nigeria difficult?” It is, “What problem is Nigeria struggling with that people and businesses are willing to pay someone to solve?”

Think about it, expensive electricity creates opportunities for alternative energy, food inflation creates opportunities across agricultural production, processing and distribution, digital adoption creates opportunities in fintech, software and digital services, housing deficits create opportunities in affordable housing and real estate, and the growing need for businesses to preserve capital creates opportunities in professional financial and treasury management. The smartest investors don't simply chase what is trending, they position themselves where demand is persistent. In 2026, capital should not merely sit idle; it should have a purpose, a risk strategy and a clear path to creating value. Before you invest this week, ask yourself, What problem am I solving? Who will pay me? What is my competitive advantage? And how will inflation, FX and policy changes affect my returns? Money follows value. Build where the problem is big, the demand is real, and the opportunity is sustainable.
