Managing Your Sleep: The Final Edition
Hello family, and happy Sunday to us. This is the final part of our sleep series, and before we begin, let me warn you sternly, if I find anyone using their phone to post on Leekee Leekee after 1am, know that you will be suspended from posting tomorrow. I am joking, of course, but you get the message.
In our previous posts, we talked about what insufficient sleep really is, and the main reasons behind it. Tonight, let us gently talk about how to manage it.
1. Put the phone down after 10pm. Give your eyes and your brain a genuine break before bedtime. Let the last thing you see at night be your ceiling, not a screen.
2. Keep a consistent sleep time. Try to sleep and wake around the same hours daily. Your body loves rhythm, and rhythm rewards you with easier, deeper rest.
3. Create a calm, cool, and dark room. Your body relaxes faster in a peaceful space than in one that is bright, noisy, or stuffy.
4. Write down your worries before bed. Instead of replaying them in your head all night, put them on paper. It quietly tells your brain, "This is handled, you can rest now."
5. Avoid caffeine and heavy meals late at night. Give your body enough time to properly wind down before you climb into bed.
6. Let someone give you a body massage, if you have them around.
A spouse, a friend, or even your children rubbing your back or shoulders for a few minutes can do wonders. It relaxes tense muscles, calms an overworked mind, and reminds your body, gently, that it is safe to let go and rest. Sleep, after all, is not only about the mind switching off, it is also about the body being cared for.
All of these habits work together, quietly telling your body the same message: the day is over, you are safe, and it is time to rest. Try even one or two of these this week, and let me know how it goes.
Goodnight, family. Sleep well, and rest deeply.
