6/8/2026: Leadership News( Nigeria/ Environment/ Plastic Waste In Lagos/ Recycling Plastic Waste)REPORT- 42 Tonnes Of Plastic Waste Was Recoverd In July 2026, From Ocean Front& Beaches In Lagos State. An Environmental Sustainability Team In Partnership With Food & Beverage Recycling Alliance ( FBRA), During A Month Long Programme In The State, Called " Plastic July", Have Removed A Huge Amount Of Plastic Waste From Lagos Waterfronts. So Far From Jan - July 2026 , More Than 800 Tonnes Of Waste Have Been Removed From The State, Of Which 558.2 Tonnes Constituded Waste Plastic. FBRA Have Recycled Part Of The Waste Plastics Into School Bags, Which Have Been Distributed Freely To 2,000 Pupils In 9 Lagos Schools. COMMENT: Kudos To FBRA & The Environmental Sustainability Team For Helping Clean- Up Lagos State. Inhabitants Of Lagos Should Also Help By Participating In End Of Month Environmental Sanitation Exercise& Clean Their Neighborhood's.* For Business Minded People , Recycling Plastics Is Highly Profitable. There Are 3 Types Of Waste Plastic * High Density Polyethylene ( HDPE), That Can Be Recycled To Produce New Plastic Containers, New Piping, Jugs & Playground Equipment. ** There Is Waste Polyethylene Terephtlene, Which When Recycled Will Produce New Plastic Bottles, Carpets & Polyester Clothing.*** Then There Is Waste Low Density Polyethylene, Which When Recycled Can Produce New Packaging Material. Research Indicates A Starter Setup Recycling Plant With Shredder+ Granulator+ Convoy Line Costs b/w $15,000-$60,000. For Large Scale Recycling, A Fully Automated Recycling Plant With Washing Facility+ Extrusion+ Filtration+ Pelleting Line Costs b/w S150,000 - $500,000. As Lagosians We Commend LASG For Keeping Our State Nice & Clean....However There Is Still Work To Be Done Improving Drainage In Parts Of The State During Rainy Season.
