🏛 Obasanjo splits with G100 over single opposition candidate

A rift has emerged between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and key leaders of the G100 opposition coalition over how to select a unified presidential candidate to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.

Obasanjo is reported to oppose the coalition's preferred choice of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, while other G100 members are pushing for Obasanjo to scale back his support for Labour Party's Peter Obi.

The disagreement threatens the coalition's central goal of presenting a single opposition candidate capable of unseating Tinubu at the polls.
