Prevention of Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID)

The good news is that Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) is often preventable. Taking simple steps to protect your reproductive health can greatly reduce your risk of developing this condition.

One of the best ways to prevent PID is to practice safer sex, including the correct and consistent use of condoms, and to get tested regularly for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), especially if you're sexually active or have a new partner.

It's also important to seek prompt treatment if you notice symptoms of an STI or any unusual vaginal discharge. Delaying treatment can allow the infection to spread to the reproductive organs.

Avoid vaginal douching, as it can disrupt the natural balance of bacteria and push harmful germs higher into the reproductive tract, increasing the risk of infection.

Regular medical check-ups, good personal hygiene, and encouraging your partner to get treated if an STI is diagnosed can also help prevent PID and protect your future fertility.

💗 Your reproductive health is in your hands. Prevention is always better than treatment—don't wait until it's too late.
