It is deeply troubling to see the Nigerian government not responding promptly to serious media reports, especially those involving the death and suffering of children. In the UK, situations like this would trigger an immediate and coordinated public response: the Metropolitan Police Commissioner would address the public within 24 hours, the Health Secretary would speak, and youth‑focused charities would step in. The public would feel reassured that they live in a system that values human life and safety.

Nigerian public officials must learn to communicate with the people. They are dealing with human beings — individuals with sensitive emotions, fears, and expectations. Silence from leadership in moments of crisis only deepens public distress and erodes trust.
