Oyo APC Slams Makinde Over Criticism of Tinubu's Economic Reforms.

The Oyo State chapter of the APC has criticised Governor Seyi Makinde for condemning President Bola Tinubu's economic reforms and declaring his intention to challenge the APC in the 2027 presidential election.

The party argued that Tinubu's policies have earned international recognition and placed Nigeria on a path to economic recovery.

Reacting to Makinde's remarks, the APC described the governor as unfit to lead the country, claiming his record in Oyo State does not justify his presidential ambition. It also accused him of benefiting from increased federal allocations under the Tinubu administration while failing to deliver comparable development in the state.

The party maintained that Tinubu's experience, leadership and reform agenda distinguish him from Makinde and expressed confidence that Nigerians would reject the Oyo governor's presidential bid. It insisted the APC remains well positioned to retain power in the 2027 general election.

The APC further alleged that Makinde's criticism of the President was politically motivated and amounted to "shadow boxing," insisting that no amount of attacks on the Tinubu administration would sway Nigerians.

It argued that the President inherited significant economic challenges in 2023 and had taken bold decisions to stabilise the economy and avert national collapse.

The ruling party also accused Makinde of mismanaging Oyo State's resources, claiming the state has little to show despite increased revenues.

Reaffirming its confidence ahead of the next general election, the APC said Nigerians would not entrust the country's leadership to the Oyo governor, maintaining that President Tinubu remains the stronger candidate for 2027.
