“Nigerian doctors, you guys should stop misdiagnosing people and making them spend money just because you're trying to make money for the hospital, yourselves, or whatever reason you do it for.
I understand that sometimes people need to run tests in order to diagnose what is wrong with them. That's not what I'm talking about. I am talking about doctors who intentionally send you to the lab to run tests you don't need.
I complained this thing to a doctor friend of mine, who explicitly told me that if they don't do it, they will be queried. He explained that whether you need a test or not, you're definitely going to the lab because they have to generate revenue for the hospital one way or the other.
It has happened to me before. A doctor sent me to do four expensive tests because I complained of chest pain. That doctor told me something was wrong with my heart and that the vein taking blood to my heart had been blocked by fat.
Only for me to get a second opinion from another consultant in the same hospital. He looked at the tests I had been asked to do and told me I didn't need them. In fact, the only test he asked me to do was a malaria test.
Two doctors later told me I didn't need all those tests the first doctor asked me to do. Those tests were not cheap. They were very expensive.
That same day, a friend of mine consulted the same doctor, and he gave her the exact same four tests to run. It is obvious that this doctor has an agenda. It is obvious that he is sending people to the lab for a particular reason that serves him or the hospital.
But it is very unfair. Going to the hospital is already expensive enough. You don't have to make people spend money they don't have.
I am referring to those doctors who intentionally send people to do tests they do not need because they're trying to generate money for the hospital or for themselves. God will judge you...”
