Olólù priests appear more humane than some religious leaders who believe that once a person commits a particular sin, such as blasphemy, the only solution is to put that person to death. They leave no room for repentance, forgiveness, or a second chance.

That raises an important question: Is that truly the nature of God? Such an approach can create the impression that God is cruel. Yet, one of God's defining attributes is His mercy. Throughout history, mercy and the opportunity for repentance have remained central to the understanding of God's character.
