I heard of one landlord who increased his tenant's rent from ₦1.2 million to ₦2.5 million.
The tenant thought it was because rents had gone up in the area. But that wasn't even the reason.
Actually, someone had told the landlord that the man had just been promoted at work and his salary had almost doubled.
So the landlord felt it wasn't fair for someone earning that much to still be paying the old rent.
The funny thing was that the landlord didn't even hide the reason from his tenant.
When the tenant heard, he laughed at first until he realized the landlord wasn't joking.
The landlord even repeated:
"If your income has increased, why should my own remain the same?
