There is a dangerous illusion almost everyone falls for.

We believe we can predict the future.

We convince ourselves that we know which business idea will succeed, which investment will multiply, which video will go viral, which relationship will last, or which opportunity will change our lives.

The truth is, we don’t.

Life has a strange sense of humor.

Sometimes, the decision you are most proud of becomes the one you wish you never made. And the opportunity you almost ignored becomes the one that completely rewrites your story.

I have seen this play out countless times at KaaTruths Podcast.

There are videos we have treated like masterpieces. We spent days refining every detail. We obsessed over the storytelling, the editing, the thumbnail, the title. We were certain we had created something extraordinary.

Then we published them.

Silence.

Weeks later, they are still sitting among our worst-performing videos.

But then another video comes along. We produce it without much expectation. We don’t think too much about it. We simply do our best and publish it.

Twenty-four hours later, it’s exploding.

Hundreds becomes tens of thousands, tens of thousands become hundreds of thousands. And it just keeps getting better and better.

I have lived this same story in every business I have built.

As an arbitrage blogger, the ad creatives I was convinced would print money often failed. The website themes I believed were perfect disappointed me. Articles I expected to dominate barely moved.

Yet some of the ideas I almost overlooked became some of the most profitable things I had ever created.

After experiencing this over and over again, I stopped trying to be a prophet.

I have learned that success is far more random than our egos would like to admit.

Talent matters.

Preparation matters.

Quality matters.

But certainty? That is often an illusion.

You simply don’t know which seed will become a forest.

And because you don’t know, the smartest strategy isn’t trying to predict the winner.

The smartest strategy is to plant more seeds.

Show up again tomorrow.

Create another video.

Write another article.

Launch another product.

Make another phone call.

Take another shot.

The people who eventually appear “lucky” are often just the people who stayed in the game long enough for probability to find them.

Consistency is powerful because it gives luck more opportunities to meet preparation.

Every attempt is a lottery ticket backed by your effort. Most won’t change your life.

But one might.

And you will never know which one it is until you have already pressed “Publish.”

So don’t become obsessed with making every attempt perfect.

Become obsessed with making sure there is always another attempt. Consistency, my friend, is your best bet.

Food for thought.
