NOT EVERY SEASON OF LOSS IS A SEASON OF FAILURE. SOMETIMES, WHAT FEELS LIKE LOSS IS GOD'S WAY OF PREPARING YOU FOR GREATER FRUITFULNESS.

Jesus said that the Father prunes the branch that is already bearing fruit so that it may bear more fruit. This means pruning is not necessarily a sign that something is wrong with you. Sometimes, it is evidence that God sees something in you that can still grow.

Pruning is the careful removal of what is unnecessary, unhealthy, or limiting so that what is valuable can develop more fully.

In the life of a believer, God may use seasons, circumstances, correction, relationships, closed doors, or His Word to expose things that must be removed.

Sometimes He prunes our attitudes.

Sometimes He prunes our priorities.

Sometimes He prunes our dependence on people.

Sometimes He prunes our desire for recognition.

Sometimes He prunes habits that have quietly weakened our fellowship with Him.

And sometimes He allows a door to close because continuing through that door would take us somewhere He never intended us to go.

PRUNING CAN HURT, BUT GOD'S PURPOSE IS NOT TO DESTROY YOU. IT IS TO MAKE ROOM FOR GREATER FRUIT.

A branch being pruned may look smaller before it becomes more fruitful. In the same way, there may be moments in your life when things appear to be reducing instead of increasing.

You may lose something you thought you could not live without.

A relationship may change.

An opportunity may disappear.

A familiar season may come to an end.

A plan you prayed about may not happen the way you expected.

In such moments, it is easy to conclude that God has abandoned you.

But do not judge God's presence by your circumstances.

SOME THINGS GOD REMOVES BECAUSE THEY CANNOT GO WITH YOU INTO YOUR NEXT SEASON.

We often ask God to increase us, but we do not always understand that increase may require removal.

We want more fruit, but we resist the pruning.

We want greater spiritual maturity, but we resist correction.

We want deeper intimacy with God, but we refuse to release distractions.

We want God's purpose, but we want to keep everything that competes with that purpose.

God's pruning may therefore feel uncomfortable because He is touching areas we have become attached to.

The question is not only, “What am I losing?”

Sometimes the better question is:

“WHAT IS GOD TRYING TO REMOVE FROM MY LIFE?”

Perhaps God is pruning your dependence on human approval so that you can learn to find your identity in Him.

Perhaps He is pruning your impatience so that you can learn to trust His timing.

Perhaps He is pruning an unhealthy attachment so that your heart can become fully available to Him.

Perhaps He is pruning your distractions because the assignment ahead requires greater focus.

Perhaps He is pruning your pride because the next level of responsibility requires humility.

Do not fight every uncomfortable process.

ASK GOD WHAT THE PROCESS IS PRODUCING IN YOU.

There are things you may call rejection that God calls redirection.

There are things you may call delay that God may be using for preparation.

There are things you may call loss that God may be using to create room for something healthier.

This does not mean every painful experience is automatically caused by God. But when you belong to Christ, you can trust Him to work through every season and use it for your spiritual growth.

The important thing is to remain connected to the Vine.

Do not allow pain to push you away from God.

When God is pruning you, stay in prayer.

Stay in His Word.

Stay humble.

Stay obedient.

Stay close to Christ.

THE PRUNING SEASON IS NOT THE TIME TO DISCONNECT FROM THE VINE.

It is the time to hold on more closely.

Remember, Jesus did not say that the Father prunes branches so they will have less fruit. He said He prunes them so they may bear MORE fruit.

That means the process has a purpose.

What God removes may create room for what He wants to develop.

What He corrects may protect your future.

What He cuts away may have been consuming strength that was needed elsewhere.

And what feels painful today may eventually become part of the testimony you will thank God for tomorrow.

So if you are presently experiencing a season of pruning, do not be too quick to give up.

Do not assume that because something is changing, God has stopped working.

Sometimes God is doing His deepest work where you cannot yet see the result.

LET HIM PRUNE YOU.

LET HIM CORRECT YOU.

LET HIM REMOVE WHAT MUST GO.

LET HIM DEVELOP WHAT MUST GROW.

And above all, remain in Christ.

Because the branch that remains connected to the Vine will eventually reveal the fruit of that connection.
