IN MY NAME YOU SHALL SPEAK WITH NEW TONGUES

Tongues is a sign in the authority of Jesus.
Mark 16:17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
In my name; refers to whose name?
The use of the phrase ;in my name; refers to authority; which is a result of Jesus resurrection and exaltation at the right hand of the father.
Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
The name is authority and not the spelling of the name Jesus. Hence when Jesus rose from the dead, he said in Matthew 28:18 … that all authority has been given to him. So speaking in tongues is a function of that authority. Same as casting out of demons and healing the sick. In the authority in the name of Jesus, a man can speak with tongues.
Acts 2:33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.
Its a sign that Jesus sits at the Father's right hand hence he gave us things to see and hear. The signs are proofs of his resurrection/exaltation to the right hand of the father.
Paul said this about the name.
Philippians 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: Vs 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
The name is authority.
1 st Corinthians 14:22 Wherefore tongues are for a sign, not to them that believe, but to them that believe not: but prophesying serveth not for them that believe not, but for them which believe.
Tongues is unique to the New testament. It's a proof that He has been exalted. It is a sign to those who do not believe and it accompanies those who have believed just as said by Jesus in Mark 16:17.
Confession: Tongues is a proof of the exaltation of Jesus at the right of the father, I choose to speak in tongues its a sign that follows the believer and I am a believer.
