Algerian bourek is a crispy, savory fried pastry made with thin sheets of dough called dioul and filled with spiced ground meat, onions, fresh herbs, and often eggs or cheese.

In Algeria, not a single Ramadan goes by without bourek being served as a starter with shorba or harira. Bourek is a really simple and easy starter to make and can be made with any preferred meat whether that is beef, lamb or chicken.
