POWER OF SACRIFICE
Acts 16:25-26 KJV
And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. [26] And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.
There are lots of misinterpretations of the Bible and the intention of God for a true believer in our time. Sometimes you will wonder how a so-called believer will vomit error from their mouth as if they do not have the Holy Spirit in them. I have heard from so many preachers that night prayer does not produce different results than the ones prayed during the day. The only thing I always see from some of these kinds of teaching is the devil trying to manipulate believers from doing what will affect his kingdom. Even to a lay man, any man that takes his time to do what others do not do will always get a result that others will not get. How can you switch from what is beyond normal and still get a normal result? The truth is that it is not only nature that honour sacrifice but God.
The Bible says that Paul and Silas waited till midnight before they started praying. They engaged in prayer when others were sleeping and God answered them with a result that is not normal. When they decided to praise God at a time when they should be mourning, they were given extra-ordinary testimony. You must be careful never to allow your spirit to be idle when listening to some people. The lame reason a preacher gave against praying in the night as a special kind of prayer is that, your night is the day of somebody. Unfortunately, the teacher forgot that because it is somebodys day, it means that your time of rest is supposed to be somebodys time of work. This means when you are working spiritually while others are resting, you will harvest when others are sleeping also.
Jesus says the enemy knows when to sow tares which is when men sleep.
Matthew 13:25 KJV
But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
This means if you are awake when the enemy thinks you should be sleeping, you will never give place for the devil to sow tares in your life. If the devil knows how to wait for the time you sleep to perpetuate evil, you should know that the devil understands the power of night. The witches and wizards know and understand the power of night or some odd hours to do evil. Why will you as a child of light allow darkness to weaken you to the point that you cannot work when the enemy is working. Beloved, waking up in the night to pray is a sacrifice in itself and God does not see sacrifice like normal things. God does not overlook or ignore sacrifice. If you can go the extra mile, you will always see something different that others cannot see.
Daily Task
Mention five reasons why praying at night is important to a believer.
Prayer
1. Father, I receive grace to be sacrificial in my prayer life.
2. Lord, help me to do much more than what is usual.
