🚨JUST IN: “₦10 Trillion Investments in 13 Years and Nigeria Still Doesn’t Have Stable Power Supply” ⚡🇳🇬
According to recent reports, more than ₦10 trillion has been committed to Nigeria's electricity sector over the past 13 years through investments, interventions, subsidies, and power sector reforms. Yet, millions of Nigerians still wake up every day not knowing when the next blackout will happen. Average electricity generation has hovered around 4,500MW for years—far below what a country of over 200 million people needs.
The consequences are everywhere:
🔹 Small businesses spend huge amounts on fuel just to survive.
🔹 Manufacturers complain that high energy costs are making production more expensive.
🔹 Students read with generators, rechargeable lamps, or phone flashlights.
🔹 Hospitals, schools, and households continue to battle unstable electricity.
Meanwhile, the government says more reforms, debt settlements, and investments are underway to strengthen the grid and improve power supply.
The question Nigerians keep asking is:
After spending over ₦10 trillion, why are we still celebrating 24 hours of uninterrupted power as if it's a miracle?
Is the problem:
- Corruption?
- Poor planning?
- Weak infrastructure?
- Policy inconsistency?
- Electricity theft and unpaid debts?
- Or decades of neglect that cannot be fixed overnight?
One thing is certain: Reliable electricity is not a luxury—it is the foundation of economic growth, industrialisation, job creation, quality healthcare, and national development.
đź’¬ Let's hear from Nigerians:
If you were given the power to fix ONE thing in Nigeria's electricity sector today, what would it be?
