Your Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Honourable Governors of the 36 States, Inspector-General of Police, 240 million Nigerians are
writing to express deep concern and frustration shared by many Nigerians regarding the continued pattern of police misconduct, brutality, and failure to provide adequate protection for Nigerians. After decades of terrorist violence from boko haram—an extremist group responsible for severe harm, loss of life, and human rights violations—millions of Nigerians still do not feel safe, and recent incidents highlight a troubling lack of accountability within our security institutions.

The recent case in Imo State, where a young man, Princewill Chimaobi, was allegedly forced into the trunk of a vehicle by police officers despite no incriminating evidence found on him, has intensified public outrage. Incidents like this erode trust in the police and reinforce the perception that ordinary Nigerians are more likely to suffer abuse than receive protection.

Nigerians deserve a police force that respects human rights, follows due process, and upholds the rule of law. 240 million Nigerians should not fear unlawful arrest, harassment, or violence from those sworn to protect them. It is unacceptable that innocent Nigerians are jailed, brutalized, or even killed based on unfounded allegations. While corrupt politician commit worse crimes move around freely still become presidents/ministers this is unacceptable and must stop now enough is enough with all due respect sirs/madams

We respectfully demand urgent reforms:

Immediate investigation and accountability for officers involved in unlawful arrests, brutality, and misconduct.

Mandatory use of body-worn cameras for all police officers nationwide.

Installation of CCTV cameras and deployment of surveillance drones across all 36 states and 774 LGAs.

Comprehensive reform of the Nigeria Police Force and abolition of DSS to ensure transparency, professionalism, and respect for Nigerians human rights.

Protection of free and fair elections through visible, technology-backed security measures that allow Nigerians and the world to witness transparent policing.

These reforms are essential not only for safety but for restoring public confidence in our institutions. Nigeria must not continue on a path where Nigerians feel unprotected, unheard, and unsafe. As we approach future elections, we demand leaders to prioritize integrity, accountability, and the well-being of Nigerian children across all states and LGAs.

Respectfully 240 million Nigerians must not sell their votes or surrender their future. We demand on our leaders to act now—decisively and sincerely—to ensure a safer, more just, and more prosperous nation.
