Long before LekeeLekee became a social media platform with global ambitions, the name had already changed Nduka Obaigbena’s life.

As a student at the University of Benin, Obaigbena drew a daily cartoon column called Lekeleke for the platform Nigerian Observer. He earned ₦10 for each cartoon, and the income enabled him to buy his first car.

Could this early success explain why, nearly five decades later, he returned to the name for his new social media platform? Tomorrow, I will publish the story of LekeeLekee—its meaning, its history and why I believe the name represents more than a new technology company.
