Desmond Elliot Returns to Nollywood After Losing APC Ticket.

Lagos lawmaker and veteran Nollywood actor Desmond Elliot has reportedly returned to acting after losing the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Surulere Constituency I seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

The development comes days after his bid for a fourth consecutive term in the Assembly ended with his defeat in the party's primary.

The actor-politician recently sparked widespread reactions after photographs and videos emerged showing him on a movie set alongside fellow Nollywood star Ibrahim Chatta. The images quickly circulated across social media, with many fans expressing excitement over the possibility of seeing Elliot make a full return to the film industry that first brought him national recognition.

Elliot has represented Surulere Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly since 2015, serving three consecutive terms under the APC. However, his political ambitions suffered a setback when former Lagos State Special Adviser on Housing, Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, secured the party's ticket for the 2027 election, ending his re-election bid.

Before venturing into politics, Elliot built a successful career as an actor, producer and filmmaker, featuring in numerous Nollywood productions and becoming one of the industry's most recognisable faces. His latest appearance on a movie set has fuelled speculation that he may now dedicate more time to filmmaking following his electoral defeat.

Despite the growing speculation, neither Elliot nor his media team has officially announced a permanent return to Nollywood or indicated whether he intends to remain active in politics. His appearance on set, however, has reignited public interest in his acting career and prompted discussions about what his next professional chapter will look like.
