Electricity Tariffs: Government Keeps Using Subsidies To Justify Price Hikes - Ilori

During the privatisation process, the first tariff increase came in February 2016. At the time, we were told it was based on cost-reflective tariffs. We challenged it in court, and we won. The court made it clear that the government cannot simply wake up one morning and increase tariffs. There is a due process that must be followed, and where that process is ignored, the tariff cannot stand. But, as we often say, the government continues to disobey court orders.
