"Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

To have and manifest faith, you must hear something.

To have and manifest faith, that which you hear has to be the Word of God.

In other words, study the letters of the Word to build your knowledge of the works of faith made possible in Christ.

It further means to meditate on the Spirit of the Word—praying with the Scriptures—for revelation of the depth and mystery of the power that the Word can work in your life.

The Words of the Lord are both letter and Spirit. That perspective will help you understand why God sent His Word to heal their diseases. It will also help you understand how His Spirit hovered over the void and His spoken Words brought that which wasn't into being during the six days of creation.

Interestingly, after He finished creating man, He breathed that same Spirit into man. Therefore, you have the capacity to subject your spirit to His Spirit for the revelation and manifestation of your faith.

Scripture says, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God..." and later, "the Word became flesh."

So, any faith not anchored on Christ—and the works possible through faith and partnership with Him—will yield mediocrity.

This explains why the passage preceding our anchor Scripture (Romans 10:2–3) notes that Israel had zeal, but without knowledge. They didn't hear—or if they did, it wasn't by the Word (Spirit), but merely by the letter (the foundational phase of exercising faith).

You know, there is no story of faith too big to find a Biblical anchor from which to draw inspiration... The thirsty drank, the hungry ate, the deaf heard, the blind saw, the crippled walked, and the dead lived. Even for life's realities where you cannot find an explicit Biblical precedent, you can customize your own anchor, resting on the Word that says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." This operates much like the principle of ejusdem generis (a legal principle meaning "of the same kind or class"—where a general phrase covers specific, unlisted situations that share the same nature).

A wiser way not to miss it is to devote oneself to seeking Christ. For when we seek Him, all other things shall be added unto us as evidence of our faith in Him.

Remember, faith doesn't come by just going to church to hear the Word of God. That is merely part of the process to help you build a necessary component for activating faith—a means, but not the end in itself.

Faith comes by hearing—not just listening to preaching, but by studying the letter and obtaining divine revelation and understanding through meditation and praying with the Word.

May we be gladiators of faith and movers for His Kingdom, in Jesus' name. Amen.
