Three decades ago, banking in Nigeria meant physical branches, paper files, and tally numbers. Today, an account can be opened, a loan accessed, and stocks traded, all from a handset.

At the 3rd Business Journal Fintech and Financial Inclusion Roundtable, NGX Group Chairman Alhaji (Dr.) Umaru Kwairanga argued that the next phase must go further: using digital rails to democratise access to investment opportunities at scale. He pointed to NGX Invest, which powered paperless subscriptions during the banking recapitalisation, and to the anticipated Dangote Refinery IPO, envisaged as a fully digital issue expected to bring millions of new investors into the market.
