Your Excellency,Governors in the 36 states 774 LGA 240 million Nigerians write to you on behalf of concerned Nigerians who are deeply troubled by the persistent waste management failures affecting communities across Lagos and many other states. This message reflects the frustration of ordinary Nigerians who simply demand a clean, safe, and dignified environment for themselves and their children.
Across numerous neighborhoods in Lagos, residents report that bags of rubbish remain uncollected for years and decades. Waste piles up along roads, outside homes, and in public spaces. Families are forced to live with the stench, health hazards, and environmental degradation caused by ineffective waste collection services. These conditions are unacceptable for a nation as capable and resourceful as ours.
Nigerians are asking a simple question: why do we still have a waste management crisis despite the monthly salaries, allocations, and budgetary provisions given to federal, state, and local government leaders—including waste management agencies? 240 million Nigerians deserve transparency, accountability, and visible results.
We respectfully demand Your Excellency and all 36 state governors, along with leadership across the 774 local government areas, to take immediate and decisive action. Waste management is not a political slogan, a court case, or an investigative headline—it is a basic public service that directly affects the health and dignity of 240 million Nigerians in the 36 states 774 LGA
We demand for:
Clear, public communication on how waste management funds are allocated and used.
Immediate deployment of effective waste collection and disposal operations.
Strong oversight to ensure agencies fulfill their responsibilities.
Sustainable long-term waste management strategies that prevent future crises.
240 million Nigerians demand leaders who care deeply about the wellbeing of our children, our communities, and our shared future. We demand you to act swiftly and transparently to resolve this waste problem without delay.
