Many Nigerians associate "Renewed Hope" with President 's 2023 presidential campaign.

However, the phrase is said to have appeared much earlier.

According to historical accounts, Tinubu first used the expression "renewed hope" in 1999 during one of his early addresses after being sworn in as the Governor of Lagos State, at the dawn of Nigeria's return to democratic rule.

Facing enormous infrastructural and social challenges, he reportedly said:

«"...And especially in the spirit of a new dawn of a renewed hope, our government understands your problems."»

Whether viewed as a political slogan or a long-standing philosophy, the phrase has remained a recurring theme in his public messaging for over two decades.
