Samuel Ogazi Wins 400m Gold as Nigeria Reach 10 Commonwealth Medals

Samuel Ogazi delivered a commanding performance to claim gold in the men's 400m at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Saturday, securing Nigeria's 10th gold medal of the championships.

The 20-year-old national record holder pulled away from the field in the closing stages, finishing ahead of Trinidad and Tobago's Jereem Richards (silver, 44.82s) and South Africa's Zakithi Nene (bronze, 45.21s). Nigeria's second finalist, Edidiong Okon Udo, placed eighth in 45.81s.

In the women's 400m, Ella Onojuvwevwo added to Nigeria's medal haul with a bronze finish.
