POLITICS IS NOT WAR: WHY WE MUST STOP BULLYING EACH OTHER OVER CANDIDATES

Have you ever seen Tinubu's children, Peter Obi's children, or Atiku's children trading insults online over their fathers? If their own kids can disagree in peace, why are you at war for a father that isn't even yours?

As political activities continue across the country, it is important to remember that elections are meant to be a contest of ideas, not a reason to destroy relationships or insult one another.

Supporting a political party or candidate is a personal decision, and everyone has the constitutional right to make that choice without being bullied, abused, or intimidated.

Please stop calling people offensive names simply because they do not agree with your political views or because they choose to support a different candidate. I have always encouraged people to campaign passionately for their preferred candidates, but there is never any justification for insulting or demeaning others in the process.

If you are an Obidient supporting Peter Obi of NDC, do not see your brother, sister, friend, or neighbour who supports Bola Ahmed Tinubu in APC as your enemy. They are not your enemies. This is politics, not war.

It is also important to remember that politics is, first and foremost, driven by personal interest before people begin to consider the interests of others. That is why individuals make different political choices based on what they believe is best for them.

You can cajole people, politely persuade, encourage, and convince them to support your preferred candidate, but you should never coerce them through threats, intimidation, harassment, or pressure. True democracy thrives on free choice, not forced loyalty.

If you belong to APC, it does not mean your brother or friend in NDC is your enemy. Likewise, if you are in ADC, it does not mean your friend in PDP is against you. Political differences should never erase family ties, friendships, or mutual respect.

Let love lead in our political conversations and interactions. Stop bullying, trolling, or attacking people online and offline simply because they support a different candidate or because you see them interacting, eating, or drinking with members of another political party.

At the end of every election, we will all continue to live together as neighbours, colleagues, friends, and fellow citizens. Political parties may differ, but our shared humanity should always come first.

Campaign with passion. Debate with facts. Respect every person's choice. Let love, tolerance, and mutual respect define our politics, not hatred, insults, or division. At the end of the day, your candidate will lose or win but your brother, sister, and friend will still be your family long after the votes are counted.
Ballots divide us for a season; blood bonds are meant to last forever.
