OUR GOD WAS MANIFEST IN THE FLESH

The heart of the Christian faith is not merely that God sent a messenger, but that God Himself was manifested in the flesh. The apostle Paul declares in 1 Timothy 3:16. "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory." This is the miracle of the incarnation. The eternal God took on human nature, not by ceasing to be God, but by revealing Himself in the person of Jesus Christ. As John 1:14 says, "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us." ; The same Word who was God; (John 1:1) entered human history to reveal the Father and accomplish our redemption.
Jesus was not merely a prophet pointing people to God. He was God revealed to man. That is why Jesus said, "He that hath seen me hath seen the Father". (John 14:9). Colossians 2:9 declares, "For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily."

Everything God wanted humanity to know about Himself is perfectly revealed in Christ. Hebrews 1:1–3 tells us that God has spoken to us by His Son, who is the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person. If you want to know God's character, His love, His mercy, and His purpose, look at Jesus.
Why did God become a man? He came to accomplish what no mere man could do. Hebrews 2:14–17 explains that He partook of flesh and blood so that through death He might destroy the one who had the power of death and deliver those who were in bondage. 2 Corinthians 5:19 says, "God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself." The God who created all things humbled Himself, entered our world, bore our sins, died, rose again, and now offers eternal life to all who believe. Our God was manifested in the flesh so that we might know Him, be reconciled to Him, and share His life forever through Jesus Christ.
