🦅 Maduka Okoye shoulder injury clouds Super Eagles goalkeeper spot

Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has suffered a shoulder injury expected to keep him out of the start of the 2025/26 Serie A season, raising questions over his availability for Nigeria's upcoming 2027 AFCON qualifying fixtures.

The setback puts Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle under pressure in the goalkeeping department, with Okoye having established himself as first choice between the posts for Nigeria. Chelle will now need to assess alternatives ahead of the qualifying campaign.

No timeline for Okoye's return has been confirmed at this stage.
