*JESUS OUR ADVOCATE (7)*
1st John 2:1 My little children, these things write I to you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 
Vs2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
This refers to Believers. Jesus is our Advocate with the Father when we sin, So the Holy Ghost knew that sons of God would sin.
Paul had some instances where Christians act unchristian.
1st Corinthians 3:1 And I,brethren,couldnotspeaktoyouasto spiritual, but as to carnal, even as to babes in Christ. 
Vs 2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. 
Vs3 For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?
He used the word ‘carnal’ for some believers in Corinth. The word ‘carnal’ here is an oxymoron. Just like 'dark light', 'animal man'. It is just to draw your attention to an unconventional behaviour. The believer is not carnal.
Romans 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. Vs 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
You cannot be carnal and be a Christian. We stand before God, not on our own merits. We are seen before God in Him. Our righteousness, sanctification, justification is Jesus Christ. 
The believer must change his thinking as touching himself when he sins.
Wrong thinking produces wrong believing. Wrong believing produces wrong speaking. Wrong speaking produces the wrong actions.
Sometimes, it is not only what a person does not know that hinders him, but what he knows. Mental assent is to hear and know a fact but not accept it. It means to think a fact is not true in one’s case.
James 1:16 Do not err, my beloved brethren. 
Vs 17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. 
Vs 18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. 
Vs 19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: 
Vs 20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. 
Vs 21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls. Vs 22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 
Vs 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like to a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
If you don't retain something in your mind, it won't be useful for you. The believer must continue to look at what the word of God says concerning him. The word of God reflects who we are to us.
Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. 
Vs 15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 
Vs 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
We are God's children. We have received the adoption of sons.
2nd Corinthians 6:18 And will be a Father to you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
If we can change the picture we have of God to that of father, it will help the way in the way we see him.
Isaiah 54:7 For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee. Vs 8 In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer.
