Nigerian scholar Oluwami Dosunmu-Ogunbi, has become the first Black woman to earn a PhD in Robotics from the University of Michigan, marking a historic milestone.

Dr. Oluwami Dosunmu-Ogunbi's doctoral dissertation focused on dynamic bipedal locomotion, specifically developing algorithms to enhance two-legged robots' ability to climb stairs and navigate complex, non-flat environments.

Before receiving her Ph.D. and Master's degrees in Robotics and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with honors from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Her achievement not only highlights academic excellence but also underscores the growing impact of African talent in global science and technology, inspiring a new generation of innovators across the continent and beyond.
