Your Excellencies, 240 million Nigerians write to you regarding the recently announced welfare package for Delta State returnees affected by xenophobic attacks in South Africa. While the initiative is commendable and demonstrates compassion toward Nigerians in distress, many Nigerians believe that deeper, more comprehensive measures are urgently needed.

The current package — including the ₦2 million grant, ₦200,000 monthly stipend for individual returnees, ₦300,000 monthly allowance for affected families, and additional medical and trauma support — is a positive step. However, millions of Nigerians continue to face severe hardship, insecurity, unemployment, and limited access to essential services.

On behalf of concerned 240 million Nigerians, we respectfully present the following demands for consideration:

Provision of free housing for all 240 million Nigerians across all 36 states and 774 LGAs.

Access to free hospitals and comprehensive healthcare services in the 36 states 774 LGA

Free education from primary level through PhD for all Nigerians.

Large-scale investment in farming and food production across all states and LGAs.

A coordinated national strategy to tackle and eliminate the root causes of terrorism.

Full eradication of terrorist groups without political slogans or delays.

Direct financial compensation to all Nigerians — proposed ₦1,000,000 per citizen — delivered through mobile phone alerts in the 36 states 774 LGA

Respectfully replication of the Delta State welfare model by all governors in the 36 states and 774 LGAs.

We emphasize that Nigerians do not seek photo opportunities or speeches. Nigerians demand tangible action, transparency, and immediate relief. The hardships faced nationwide require bold, people-centered policies that restore dignity and hope for 240 million Nigerians
