🇳🇬 NUPRC's 2025 licensing round aims to rebuild investor trust

Nigeria's upstream regulator, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), is conducting a 2025 Licensing Round aimed at addressing long-standing concerns over transparency and investor confidence in the country's oil block awards.

The round, led by NUPRC Chief Executive Gbenga Komolafe, is designed to ensure that awarded assets translate into actual production — a persistent challenge in previous licensing exercises.

Nigeria holds vast hydrocarbon resources, but questions over licensing integrity have historically dampened investor appetite and slowed upstream development.
