Two firefighters collapsed last week. Fighting a fire that NEVER should have happened. 🔥

A prepaid meter. On a balcony. In a three-storey building in Ketu, Lagos.

An electrical surge. And suddenly the top floor is engulfed.

We thank LASEMA for the swift rescue. We salute the firefighters who risk everything. 🚒👏

But here's what keeps me up at night:

This isn't rare. It's routine.

Balcony meters. Exposed wiring. Buildings stacked like cards with zero regard for safety codes. And when disaster strikes? We blame "electrical surges" instead of the system that allowed it.

This is not just a Lagos problem. It's a NIGERIAN epidemic. 🇳🇬

How many more heroes must collapse? How many more families must lose everything before regulators actually ENFORCE the building codes that already exist on paper?

We don't need new laws. We need courage to enforce the ones we have.
