Felix: ₦1 used to go a long way back then, and whether it’s nostalgia or not, many people remember a time when everyday essentials felt much more affordable.

AOJ: The one Naira note was only of much value in the 70s and early 80s. The Structural Adjustment Programme (SAP) introduced by IBB killed the value of this note and other denominations in the late 80s and throughout the 90s. In fact, in 1991 the CBN phased out this note and replaced it with a coin.
