LACK OF PROPER MEASURE.....The Tragedy of Ilaje's new visitor

by TAIWO PHILLIPS EDEMA...

As seen online, it is deeply saddening that Ondo State is experiencing this in this digital age. Many times, I start writing about these issues and then delete my thoughts not out of fear, but because my emotions often get the better of me, and I don't want to come across as unprofessional

Nevertheless, Governor Aiyedatiwa and his supporters, ( Ẹ má jẹ́ bread yín lór wọ́n ń dín ẹyin lọ́wo) meaning, Enjoy your bread while you wait for the frying egg...

You have taken Ondo State, and Ilaje in particular, backwards.

And what has kept me silent for so long is the fact that some of the people I respect and have learned so much from are among your apostles. So rather than speak out in a way that may be seen as rude or insulting, I chose to remain quiet.

The reality, however, is that there has been a lack of foresight, inadequate preventive measures, and no effective emergency response.

In my opinion, the greatest setback to Ilaje today is the current leadership—the Governor, OSOPADEC, and the Chairman of Ilaje Local Government.

To be clear, I am not blaming anyone for the flood itself. Natural disasters happen. but what I blame them for is the absence of planning, preparedness, and a coordinated emergency response.

Rain has always fallen in Ondo State. I grew up there, and I have never seen flooding this devastating.

From the video, I can recognize houses in Agbala. If floodwaters can reach this level in places like agbala st Peter, what about our respected Councillor Mr. Ehuwa's compound and its surrounding areas, then it is obvious that this situation has gone beyond normal.

If those in authority do not know the way forward, then perhaps Mr. Elisha Ebijimi should come back to Lagos and learn how effective planning, drainage management, and emergency response are carried out.

The people of Ilaje deserve better. Leadership is not only about occupying office; it is about anticipating challenges, preparing for them, and protecting the lives and property of the people.
