The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has projected double-digit growth in cargo throughput and revenue following BUA Group’s $85 million investment to expand its Port Harcourt port and terminal facilities. NPA Managing Director, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, said the project will boost trade, strengthen eastern ports, increase cargo volumes and generate higher revenue for the country. The expansion will add 600 metres of quay frontage, enabling BUA to handle over two million tonnes of imported raw materials annually as it scales up its food business. BUA Chairman Abdul Samad Rabiu said the investment will enhance logistics, support industrial growth and reinforce Nigeria’s port infrastructure, while both parties pledged deeper public-private collaboration to improve the nation’s competitiveness.
