๐จ TRENDING: "I Took a ยฃ75,000 Loan to Invest in Nigeria... Now I'm Thinking of Tearing My Nigerian Passport and Leaving." ๐๐ณ๐ฌ
"I took a loan of ยฃ75,000 from the UK to come and invest in Nigeria because the government encouraged us to return home and invest. But today, that same government is destroying our investment. As I'm talking right now, I'm actually thinking of counting my losses, packing my things, tearing my Nigerian passport, and going back. I have friends who have already destroyed their Nigerian passports because of experiences like this."
These were the emotional words of a businessman who alleged that his investment and business premises in Abuja were demolished without prior notice or warning.
According to him, the demolition has also left 84 members of staff without jobs, throwing dozens of families into uncertainty.
The incident has sparked fresh concerns about the safety of investments in Nigeria and whether local and foreign investors can truly operate with confidence.
If businesses can allegedly be demolished without due process, many Nigerians are asking:
- Who will be willing to invest?
- What happens to the workers who suddenly lose their livelihoods?
- How can the country attract diaspora investors if existing investors feel unprotected?
If these allegations are accurate, many believe the authorities owe the public an explanation and that affected investors deserve fair treatment under the law.
What's your opinion?
Do you think Nigeria is creating an environment that encourages investment, or are incidents like this discouraging people from bringing their money home?
