Surrounded by Idiots.
As this week comes to an end, I found myself doing something I have not done in the past few weeks. I picked up a book.

To be honest, this is not like me. Reading a physical book, not something pulled from the internet, has always been part of my life, but for some reason, I had not opened a book in weeks. Today, my spirit led me back to it, and I am choosing to see it as an opportunity to rekindle that habit.

The book I have started reading is Surrounded by Idiots. Yes, I know the title sounds funny, but from what I have read so far, it has helped me understand something important: many of the people I once considered "idiots," simply because they did not see the world the way I did, were not really idiots at all. If anything, I may have been the one at fault, for trying to make people see life exactly the way I see it, when I know deep down that God made us differently, and placed us in different environments to shape us differently too.

From the little I have read so far, I am already amazed by the lessons it contains. One insight that immediately caught my attention is this: we all have different personalities, experiences, strengths, and ways of processing information.

The more I reflect on this, the more I realise that before calling someone an idiot, we should first ask ourselves whether we have truly made an effort to understand them. I have only just begun this book, but I can already tell it will challenge many of the assumptions I have held about human behaviour.

As I continue reading, I will be sharing some of the lessons and insights with my wonderful Leekee Leekee family. My hope is that together, we will gain a deeper understanding of ourselves, the people around us, and why we all think and behave so differently.
