Did anyone listen to that press statement by the House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee about the PFIPC scandal?

I find it rather curious that the committee expects Nigerians to simply take its word for it that every document linked to the PFIPC scandal was forged, including the alleged signature of the Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Just like that?

On whose authority?

Which forensic laboratory or handwriting experts authenticated them?

Was the analysis conducted by an independent agency or by the committee itself? Or are we simply expected to believe the committee because it said so?

Forgery is not something you establish by press conference. It is established by evidence.

If forensic analysis was indeed conducted, then there should be no problem making that report public. Nigerians deserve to know who examined the documents, what methodology was used, and how the conclusion was reached.

What makes this even more difficult to swallow is that these documents circulated for months, generated public debate, attracted official reactions, and only now we're being told they were all fake from the very beginning.

That naturally raises more questions than it answers.

This isn't about defending anyone. It's about defending due process.

In a democracy, public institutions don't earn credibility by asking citizens to "trust us." They earn it by showing their work.

Until that happens, many Nigerians will struggle to see this as the end of the PFIPC controversy. They will see it as the beginning of another one.
