Supporting your spouse in public is a beautiful thing, but we must understand the difference between protecting someone’s dignity and defending a mistake.

If your wife makes a grammatical error while giving a speech, publicly embarrassing her is not the right approach. A loving spouse can choose to protect her confidence and address the correction privately afterward.

However, saying “she is right” when you know she made a mistake is not really defending her, it is defending the mistake.

True love balances loyalty with honesty. You can stand by your spouse without pretending they are perfect.

A better response could be..
“My wife may have made a small mistake in expression, but that does not take away from the value of her message.”

Supporting your spouse does not require rejecting the truth. In many situations, acknowledging a mistake respectfully is actually the wiser and more loving response.
