The rule of law means nobody should be above investigation, but it also means law enforcement must never become an instrument of partisan politics. If the detention was lawful and evidence-based, it should proceed regardless of election timing. If it was politically motivated, it is an abuse of state power that weakens democracy. The standard Nigerians should demand is consistent: justice must be blind to political party, and elections must be contested at the ballot box, not influenced by selective law enforcement.
